welcome

Welcome to the land of Clootielugs where squirrels, rabbits and their like rule the roost. I love to make and sew and find inspiration from many sources although nature in its many forms tends to be the thing that fires my imagination most often!

You can see and purchase many of my creations on Folksy:

Flowers Galore!

I've spotted some brave little snowdrops starting to break through the frozen ground whilst walking Lucy this week and so to celebrate and encourage their efforts I've decided to do a flower feature for my contribution to this weeks Folksy Friday.

I think these would make a cheerful addition to any home, I love the effect of the ribbon yarn petals and the bold shell button centre! They are made by hmsdesign and ffflowers

I love the bold simplicity of this next piece. The wave shape of the glass makes it appear that these poppies are swaying in a warm summer breeze. Beautiful! Made by the aptly named Poppyfields Design !

How about this for a bouquet? Isn't it stunning? Unique and gorgeous it is made by the Felt Florist, have a look in her shop for other wonderful felt florals!!

I had to include these! With their happy smiling faces and cute little flowers they are just adorable! These are made by Pink Stars and Fairy Cakes
If you're after delightful girly creations - then this is the shop you've been looking for!

I love the work of designer Hannah Madden. These are her 'Blue Primula Bundle' of cards, pop over to her shop at Folksy to see her other pretty designs around a nature theme!

Flowers often feature in my own work, usually alongside hills or birds, but in this little aceo I've put them centre-stage! I think they deserve it just for surviving this winter!

Burns Night

Well, next Tuesday actually but since this is the Friday before, I'm going to celebrate all things that Rabbie represents and that represent Rabbie....tartans, red roses, wee mice and maybe even a bonnie lassie or twa!

To start things off we'll need a bonnet and wha's better than at Imogen's Imagination, this one's in a classic colourway but these come in all sorts of wonderful colour combinations.

Next this impressive red rose bracelet from Shoogly Beads. It boasts czech beads, Swarovsk bicones and white freshwater pearls - just watch you dinnae tak yer laddies eye out wi' this one as he burls ye roon the dance-flair!

Something a wee bit different now - Burns was a man o' the people, a working man,who loved a tall tale and a wee bevvy, so I reckon he'd approve of this from Little Red Star.
This unique necklace is entitled 'Fairy Tales and Irn Bru'. Wonderful!

For those who prefer a more rural pendant there's none that fits the bill better than this delightful country scene from Aileen Clarke Crafts. Made using wet felting and needle felting techniques the colours are just beautiful.

I found these truly gallus cards when browsing through Folksy one day! Aren't they jist braw? And whit a bonny wee lassie! They can be found at Red Road Design where you'll find lots of other rare creations!

Now, some Scots dictionaries define the word 'blether' as 'idle chatter' but as those who of us who indulge in a daily blether ken, there's nothing idle aboot it! A blether is the best medicine and can heal the worst of woes. There's nae much wrang in the world that cannae be made better than richt guid blether! So wear your love of a blether with pride, this necklace is made by Too Much Fun, they have other word necklaces proclaiming 'och' and 'peely wally'! Inspired!

To finish this week's Burns inspired selection, I promised some wee mice... but nae wee, courin, timrous beasties here...these are cheeky fun-loving rodents and designed my me! Find them amongst my other eclectic designs at Clootielugs

Okay - there was snow, then there was more snow, then there was the big freeze, then there was ice, then there was freezing fog followed by more ice and then more snow. I loved it, then I grew indifferent, then I hated it, loathed it and have now come to accept it. So in order to embrace my inner ice queen I have chosen for Folksy Friday to show some of my favourite icy, snowy, pure as the driven slush (actually whiter than that!) creations available for sale in the wonderful Folksy shops this week! Please take a look yourself, I could only showcase a handful of the lovely items to be found. Browsing will always pay off at Folksy and is never time wasted!

First up is a little bird made by me, yes, that's right it's one of Clootielugs own! Well a bit of self-promotion never hurt anyone!

I think these are really pretty and could be used is many different ways...crocheted by Lovesagoodyarn

Next I've chosen this quirky necklace by Deer Little Fawn, good enough for Snow White herself!

I love this picture! Tiny sized ACEOs are proving really popular and quite collectable at the moment. Its a great way of buying very affordable original art and prints. This one is by Audrey's Art, a super talented artist!

These will light up the darkest corner! A beautiful handmade string of 10 glass fairy lights each sprinkled with a snow effect glass dust. Just magical! By Red Brick Glass

My final choice for this week is this totally flamboyant, gorgeous, flippant, decadent snow white delight! Who could resist? Created by The Crafty Bride.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! I've not presented a Folksy Friday for some time as I spent the last 2 months gearing up for various craft events and markets...well worth it in the end and I'm ready to hit the ground running in 2011. Not too fast however, not after all those mince pies and the icy weather is making running a bit of a fools errand for the time being. So a gentle jog may be more sensible and on that note here's a selection of what folksy has to offer in January 2011 for those whose New Year resolution may be to get more active...once the nicer weather arrives of course!

First up is this luscious bag to carry all your gymtastic bits in. Made by Loulabelle and with a handy inner zipped pocket,at least you're guaranteed to look glamorous going into the gym!

I love the colour of these hiking gaiters! It's little gems like these that might actually persuade me to get moving! Crocheted by Lemonade and Lemingtons they look super cosy too!

These iphone pouches come in lovely colours especially spring-like I think. I love the fact they come with a clip attached, all ready to go! Find them at Funky Diva Designs.

I love the liberty print fabric Nostalgia Knits has used to create this bag to store or carry your yoga mat. Mind you I'm not sure even wild horses would get me into the lotus position these days!

If this doesn't persuade you to get your dancing shoes on I don't know what will! A swirling, twirling gorgeous red skirt by Fashion Couture. Makes me think of a beautiful gypsy dancing around the embers of a camp-fire...maybe that's just me, but you have to admit it's a thing of great beauty!

And lastly for those of you who feel I've been a little over enthusiastic with my talk of get up and go, how about this fun pendant from Funky Pendants? Made from a reused scrabble tile, I like its honesty!
